SEND and Inclusion
Children starting at the school who are identified as having special needs are put on our special educational needs register, so that staff and parents can work together to ensure the child’s progress.
If we are concerned about a child’s progress, they can be put on the register but only after discussions between parents and keyworkers. If you have concerns about your child’s special needs please ask to speak to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) who is our Headteacher, Alex Law.
If a child needs extra help they are given an Individual Education Plan, tailored to their needs, with targets that we review regularly. We may also involve outside specialists, such as speech therapists, educational psychologists.
We have three key duties towards disabled pupils:
• To improve the physical environment.
• To make improvements in the provision of information.
• To increase access to the curriculum.
We reduce and, as far as possible, eliminate barriers to accessing the curriculum and to full participation in Harry Roberts Nursery School for pupils and prospective pupils and their parents or carers or any other member of the school community with a disability.
The building is wheelchair accessible
