Making marks is such a powerful way of recording ideas and feelings. Mark making is something we encourage right from the start. Children can make marks in many ways - with fingers in the sand, with a paintbrush and water on the ground outside, with a stick in soil and with pens on paper. Post-it notes are always popular and the children are often curious if they see an adult writing on these.
Look how boldly and confidently these figures have been drawn. The child has drawn a circle to represent the head and body and the main features have been included like eyes and legs and smiling mouths. There are also letter like forms which are examples of early writing. Comments are closed.
